Predators still out there

Thank you for your critical and timely Feb. 9 article concerning the dangers that still slink in our residents and surrounding areas.

I met Kelly and Brent King is to initial time this past week when they hosted an eventuality for San Diego mayoral participant Nathan Fletcher, the unite of Chelsea's Law. we had the award of vocalization to them individually, something I've longed for to do for a really long time, before they spoke at the podium. One of the notes we done in fleeting to Brent was my low concerns about girls and women stability to go places alone, something you sharp out in your editorial.

Kelly and Brent any spoke to the audience, conversing of their selection to select certain activities out of their sorrow so that no other family would have to experience what they did with their awful loss of Chelsea. They spoke of their thankfulness to the residents who helped them by that tough and to Nathan for working to obtain Chelsea's Law passed. They were focused in getting their summary across, any of their voices unsatisfactory only once as they spoke of the person Chelsea was and her mantra "go large or go home." They go on their work is to strongest penalties for passionate predators in other states together with California and for monies to do improved tracking of these violators.

I would similar to to highlight a groundswell of preparation for "don't go alone." Predators look at people and patterns. Let us try to stop these encounters from ever going on and look to make sure improved safety rsther than than a wicked outcome.

Chelsea, Danielle, Amber, we haven't lost you or the lessons you taught us.

Median repairs 'ugly'

Shirley Cooper (Letters, Feb. 23) is scold in mission the "upgrade" of medians on Pomerado Road a boondoggle. Pouring connect in to these spaces has combined the ugliest muddle we have ever seen on any principal thoroughfare. It didn't take long for leaves, mud and rabble to raise up on the connect and make the incident worse.

The muddle had to cost far more than soil and plants that would have beautified the areas. we consent with Shirley Cooper solely that.

Setting the record true

(Editor's note: We have a process against running election-related letters inside of a week of a scheduled election. The Seven Oaks choosing is next week. However, we are running this e-mail since we felt the participant had a right to reply to allegations done against her.)

I have never talked to or met Peter Young (Letters, Feb. 23) and consternation what his ground is is to smear and accusations he has unleashed on me.

I was on the Seven Oaks house in 2006 that shaped the ad hoc tree cabinet to help the architectural cabinet washed up the large number of tree complaints. we was already a of the two architectural cabinet liaisons, as allocated by the board, since we had been on the architectural cabinet previously. A tiny organisation of homeowners in Seven Oaks has perpetuated a fabrication for a few years that we was accountable for forcing or intimidating homeowners in to slicing down their trees. we wish to disagree that as an complete lie. we was not accountable for any tree in our residents being removed. we do not have the power to enforce, have never in jeopardy or intimidated, and would never use force. Only the house can use force by the courts.

Mr. Young is misled in his actions, and we regard it does a harm to our residents to perpetuate these kinds of damning statements. Most of us changed here anticipating to have harmony in our comparison years, but we regard some flourish on shaming others to be able to earn precedence on their agenda, that is to finally force a change in our CCR's to accustom their own beliefs.

Many done module successful

On Tuesday, Feb. 7 and Wednesday, Feb. 8, Poway High School, in conjunction with a give from the California Highway Patrol, put on All 15 Minutes, a dipsomaniac pushing simulation. The module is based on the statistic that in America every 15 mins someone dies or is severely harmed at the hands of a dipsomaniac driver.

All students witnessed what a comfortless collision might entail: the 911 call, followed by all the crisis crews, and an detain of the dipsomaniac driver. The participants, 26 "Living Dead" and the 4 students in the unnatural crash, moreover attended a ridicule justice stage for sentencing of the tyro driver. On Wednesday, juniors and seniors saw a ridicule remembrance service and listened 4 speakers speak about their practice with dipsomaniac driving. This two-day experience was done probable by the give in add-on to encouragement from our PTSA.

The module wouldn't have happened, however, if it weren't for Jon Canavan, the Chief of our Fire Department. While we would moreover similar to to appreciate the following, we would similar to your readers to know how astounding Jon is. He orderly all from getting the wrecked cars to all the crisis vehicles, the Palomar Trauma Center, the court, and speakers.

Additionally, we would similar to to publicly appreciate the following: Brooke Stark and Anna Schwab (senior plan students); Megan Battle (PHS Asst. Principal); parents Randi Feinberg and Jacki Lake; the City of Poway (fire department; Sheriffs, particularly Det. Mike Ferrell; and ambulance); Anytime Towing and Rancho Del Oro Towing, Merkely-Mitchell Mortuary; Dr. John Steele (Palomar Hospital Trauma Center and his staff); Judge Rogers; Hal Clement (retired headlines anchor); Ted Bendrick (TvX video); Garret Moreau (sound); Pat Kumpan for her Chieftain coverage; and our really understanding principal, Scott Fisher.

Losing 5 students in the past 3 years has been really tough on our community. Since our students have witnessed firsthand the tragedies of adage goodbye to superb people before their time, we debated either or not to grip this assembly. However, if it saves at least a life it was value it!

Tell readers to 'smarten up'

I contingency reply to the Feb. 16 mainstay "Memo to GOP men…"

The only thing unique about Amy. Sandberg's "read it and weep" story is that it is not unique. She managed to put a face, her face, on the bad dignified choices women make in an endeavor to overcome our sensitivities but it doesn't change the argument.

She states that passion should not and cannot be legislated or regulated, yet, this is the arms she chose to make her case. She would improved offer her readers if she told them to "smarten up" and that with personal liberties advance personal responsibilities.

A woman's right to do what she wants with her body does not give her the right to transgress on my particular autocracy that grants that we cannot be forced to pay for her mistakes.

If the evidence is affordability, let's not dont think about that we're conversing about the median American women who outlay roughly $6 billion a year for beauty products alone. Is the traffic off of a few pennies a day for bieing born manage in swap for a planner bag, acrylic nails, good clothes, or a risked conceiving physically and/or miscarriage a chic thing to do?

If we were a caller from other planet, we would finish that women might be poetic to look at but they are unquestionably not the intelligent creatures they regard they are.

Vicki Jones, Poway

No a is controlling passion

This is in response to Amy Sandberg's Feb. 16 mainstay concerning "women's issues."

Readers should be heedful when articles make broad, universal assumptions " "GOP men," "white men" " we regard you obtain the picture. we would similar to to supply other way to look at things, using simply the information rsther than than "speaking from my tummy and uterus."

The Republican Party is not assaulting contraception. No Republican participant states that they will remove contraception. The contraception deliberation in the media currently deals with either or not eremite entities will be forced to encouragement what is against their dignified beliefs. It is a breach of our freedoms issue, not a diplomatic celebration issue.

Ms. Sandberg states that "passion should not be legislated or regulated." This is a silly statement. No a is perplexing to systematize passion. However, in a courteous society, people should stick to some portion of morality. Sadly, TV and media indicate that sex, anytime, wherever is only fine. we desire to differ. If we do whatever feels good when we want, what type of people do we become? Even so, contraception is still at large existing for giveaway from Planned Parenthood.

Ms. Sandberg moreover states "there is no 'right' or implicitly total decision." Again, we believe many people would disagree. There are truly dignified absolutes.

It breaks my heart that you would insult the Santorums since they do not share your philosophy, and that today's media find Mr. Santorum's explanation "contentious" since he supports the family section and dignified truths.

Workers treated with colour as cogs

Reading Mr. Hemphill's Feb. 16 column, we have to finish that he only read a of the articles in the New York Times about the working conditions at the assembly lines in China that builds Apple computers. In a Jan. 25 expose, the Times described in item the dangerous and demeaning conditions the workers in the assembly lines face. It appears that the factory's storied responsiveness to Apple's final comes at a high cost in the workers' illness and safety " beneath conditions that would not be tolerated in any production plant in America.

Mr. Hemphill's close that unions have done American workers soothing is similarly off the mark. The Bureau of Labor census data tells us that in 2011 only 11 percent of American workers were unionized. Unions have far reduction change than he would similar to to think. And if lawyers are what keep association workers in America from living the lives of Chinese workers, then God magnify them. Our workers are the many prolific on the world since they have protected working conditions, competent training and education, and decent pay, not in grudge of those things.

The point of the New York Times articles is not that Americans are too soothing to vie with the Chinese, the point is that the Chinese are treating their workers similar to disposable cogs in the industrial machinery. Chinese factories are able to do what they do since they take advantage of their workers on a massive scale. We might import their assembly lines output, but no a in his right thoughts would wish to import their assembly lines methods.

Call her Amy Whiner

I almost strew tears as we read Amy Sandberg's shed tears story Feb. 23 about her bad mistreated brother. As a student, her hermit was not asked by the Poway Unified School District. In 1974, a vicious aged panel of judges forced him to come together the Air Force or else go to jail for forward pushing and possession. Then the Air Force let him down by discharging him for no more than flourishing pot in his locker. How sad!

Now her hermit is impoverished and living off of their father. Sandberg does not censure her hermit is to muddle he has done of his life. Instead, she blames someone else, any person else, everybody else.

My two sons were prepared by the PUSD all the way from K by 12. They both graduated from the University of California. Perhaps it is since they schooled their "3 R's" at college and schooled their values at home. we recommend that Sandberg change her surname to Whineberg or, even better, Whiner.

Lyles stands in the way

Regarding Dick Lyles' mainstay of Feb. 23 on schools assisting high college students and family groups cope with drug issues.

I suspect we am a of those people he referred to that "jumped on the bandwagon." However, never once did any person ever "propose that schools take shortcoming for rehabbing, treating or caring for piece abusing students." That is truly the many outrageous, out of proportion, unbelievable statement! He is clearly not listening. Rehabbing and treating students are for professionals, not teachers or schools. Nobody referred to that.

Caring, yes! we caring about students wanting help. There are far more than a "few knuckleheads creation bad decisions." It's extraordinary how many kids are "doing drugs" in town, call the residents to do something. It's time to stop the real loss of lives and kid's futures, all of our futures.

The only help schools can supply is an void classroom for after-hours encouragement meetings with a advisor gift services for free, and a poster with a list of professionals that can help.

Where did you obtain the belief any person referred to schools supply rehab? We aren't conversing about a few kids that can't pass tests or interrupt classes. We are conversing about our kid's lives! Our residents demonstrated we aren't passively vouchsafing other's prejudices and biases block the caring for kids. We will do something about it before other life is lost or put in jeopardy.

Pardon me, Mr. Lyles, but greatfully obtain out of the way.
