MIRI: The next a or two months are going to be a nail-biting time for obligatory state Barisan Nasional MPs.
The reason being whilst Sarawak BN tip leaders already have a coarse thought of who might be fielded as the coalition's candidates, the incumbents can usually wait for until the statement is made. In short, between right away and that statement the incumbents will be going by a jumpy period.
According to Sarawak BN secretary-general Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi, there is, in fact, already a preliminary list drawn up by Sarawak BN that contains the names of the 31 prospective possibilities for all the 31 parliamentary seats.
But this list, he said, would be subjected to other turn of investigation and thorough review before the last list was drawn.
Speaking to The Star yesterday, Dr Rundi reiterated that the state BN tip leaders already had the names of the obligatory MPs who would be defended or dropped, and moreover the names of the new faces.
"The preliminary list of names of prospective BN possibilities for Sarawak parliamentary constituencies is already there. It is, however, not the last list.
"The part parties (PBB, SUPP, PRS and SPDP) already have a coarse thought of who they will margin beneath their particular jurisdictions.
"I think the Chief Minister (as Sarawak BN chairman) will be going by the names of the prospective possibilities shortly and will be deliberating with the leaders of any of the part parties.
"There is still time is to individual part parties to break down into parts and review those prospective possibilities they are having now."
Dr Rundi mentioned the obligatory MPs were still being scrutinised for their "winnability".
"In other words, there could still be a few changes before the last list of BN possibilities is out," he said.
Out of the 31 seats, BN has 29 whilst DAP has in two (Bandar Kuching and Sibu).
Dr Rundi yesterday mentioned Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud as the state's BN chairperson and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak as the national BN chairperson would be the ones with the last say on the candidates.
Asked how he would rate the Sarawak BN's present chances formed on the preliminary list they have is to 31 seats, he mentioned BN should quietly secure at least the two-third majority.
"However, you cannot be complacent. We contingency go on to assessment the sentiments on the belligerent all the time.
"That is because the obligatory MPs, prospective possibilities and the rest of the Barisan choosing equipment in any of the parliamentary province contingency go on their assertive belligerent work bland without fail."
It is learnt that Najib will be forthcoming to Sarawak for a few days' authorized revisit towards the finish of next month.
He is approaching to go by the list of the state BN possibilities for a last decision.
During the state choosing last year, it was mentioned that Najib privately done a few changes to the list of Sarawak BN possibilities before the last list was announced.
He privately endorsed dropping a few obligatory assemblymen after interviewing them and reviewing their opening record.
He did this over a six-hour time at the Miri Mariott Hotel about a month before the April state election.
It is left to be seen if he will moreover "interrogate" the obligatory MPs privately this time around when he comes to town.
